Is the Pantone Color of the Year relevant?

press_coy2016Since it’s generally a fugly color, it would seem only a fetish, anxiously awaited and used by the design equals of hipsters.

This year, although Pantone has a million colors, they couldn’t even settle on one. For 2016, the Pantone Color of the year is a mixture of Pantone 15-3919 Serenity and Pantone 13-1520 Rose Quartz. No particular balance or proportion provided.

Yawn is a step up from last year’s color. Name and number long forgotten, but clotted blood ought to provide enough of a visual. Great for CSI, NCIS, or other crime procedurals. Less great for anything else.

Mimosa (2009) and Blue Iris (2008) had some presence. Maybe the staff changed. in any event whoever writes this stuff does think of lot of the process and the results. Someone has to, I guess.
